The peak of the Geminid Meteor Shower was last night, but you can still see plenty of meteors falling towards Earth tonight. Just get somewhere away from any bright city lights, bundle up and lay back and watch as much of the sky as you can. There should be as many as a couple “shooting stars” per minute. Get your wishes ready.
If you’re going to be in or around the Seattle area any time this month I suggest you stop by the L|td. Art Gallery and get your fill of Jedi, Jawas and Jar-Jar or Wampas, Wookiees and Womp Rats at their “Who Shot First?” Star Wars-centric art exhibit.
These guys aren’t geeks – they’re rock stars – but several of them have geeky tendencies. They play songs from Weezer, Beck, Cake, Violent Femmes, Radiohead, R.E.M., Beastie Boys, The Pixies, Phoenix, Interpol, The Flaming Lips and many other great artists. And the music and vocals are always top notch.
If you’re in the Las Vegas area (and the world doesn’t end just because the Mayan calendar is resetting – again) check them out on 12/22/2012 at the Hard Rock in the Vinyl. Doors open at 7 pm, show starts at 8 pm. They’ll be belting out the jams for 3 sets. And the price is right. Free.
